WHAT WE DO
AT THE HUB
We do a lot at the Khayelitsha Community Hub. We organise tours, we make biochar, we have our own community gardens and we teach youngsters about the importance of nature. Are you curious? Check the pages below!

Biochar Production
From the invasive water hyacinth that grows in our waters, we make biochar. Biochar is a charcoal-like substance that’s made by burning organic material from agricultural and forestry wastes in a controlled process.
Canoeing
We teach the young ones in the community how to swin, canoe and be safe in and around water. We also organise awesome tours for tourists and locals who want to know more about our community and Khayelitsha.
Community Garden
In the community gardens locals grow their own veggies. The soil of the gardens is being brought to life by our own biochar production! How cool is that?

Educational Programs
At high schools in and around Cape Town, we teach young students all about preserving nature. How a clean environment is not only safer for their health, but also for their well being.
Guided Experiences
For tourist and locals we organise the most unique township experience they will even encounter: seeing Khayelitsha from a canoe. Can you imagine!
A safe haven
A safe haven for volunteers, locals, tourists and anyone who sets foot on our soil. Creating a space where everyone feels safe is the most important thing for us.
